Everyone’s been losing their minds over news that Zoe Saldana’s hubby, Italian artist Marco Perego, took the actress’ last name instead of the conventional way things are done. Now Saldana wants the world to know she gives two shits about what we think.

Saldana revealed the news in an interview with InStyle, and over the last few days it has become a huge spicy topic, even garnering the actress and her husband some major side-eyes.

The Avatar star said she tried to talk her husband out of taking her last name for fear he would be “emasculated” by his Latin community of men. He told her that he “didn’t give a s***.”

Now the outspoken star defends her husband’s decision with a post on Facebook writing, “Why is it so surprising, shocking—eventful that a man would take his wife’s surname?”

Probably because it’s hardly ever done, but we hear you loud and clear, Zoe!

“Women have never been asked if it’s OK to give up their names,” the actress wrote. “Why doesn’t that make the news?

Again, Zoe, because that wouldn’t be news. Your hubby officially becoming Mr. Saldana is news. And it’s dopeness!

“Fathers, sons, brothers, men everywhere: Your legacy will not perish if you take your partner’s surname, or [if] she keeps hers.”

Rant ends.

The couple married in 2013 and are the parents of five month old twin boys Bowie and Cy.

Kudos to Saldana for holding her own as she often does, and bigger props to Mr. Saldana for being man enough!
