If you are a member of the infamous Black Twitter community, you know at least once a week there’ll be an onslaught of random hashtags that come out of nowhere with sheer hilarity!
This week was no different, when #GrowingUpBlack made its appearance on timelines there was no stopping the constant flow of exchanges between followers sharing stories of their childhood that were all too familiar.
Topics ranged from what it looks like spending the night over Grandma’s house with your cousins, to the proper way to say “remote control” in a Black household, and of course those memories (we would rather forget) of having to get your own switch!

After a few hours of fun, the hashtag #GrowingUpWhite appeared. The attempt at showing us what it what it was like growing up in a White household was a royal fail that commenced an instant drag session from Black twitter slayers that became just as entertaining as #GrowingUpBlack.
