This New Facebook Feature Will Help You Through a Breakup!

We all know going through a breakup can be the worse, but we’re all still learning how to process a breakup in terms of social media.

Sure, there’s Facebook profile stalking, which isn’t necessarily healthy, but since Facebook is constantly adding new (and sometimes annoying) features, the dominant social network is now assisting you through your breakup.

If you’ve logged into your account recently, then you may have noticed the feature “On This Day” and “Year In Review” popping up on the newsfeed without you having to opt in first.

This usually triggers nostalgia both and good and bad depending on what was posted.  Because there are some memories we’d like to forget like deaths of loved ones and breakups, users now have the option to filter out dates and people they don’t want to be reminded of.

Adding to its features, Facebook is now testing tools to help users deal with breakups.

A Facebook Newsroom post called “Improving the Experience When Relationships End,” Product Manager Kelly Winters explained new tools would give users the option to see less of their ex in their newsfeed without having to block or unfriend.

This may not cure Facebook stalking, but it can lessen triggers for people if they see something which instantly causes their emotions to go out of whack.

To give reassurance your ex won’t see every photo or status you post, you can control what they see. You can also control who can see posts involving your ex, which might be a good thing when you start dating again.

Look at Facebook looking out for our emotional well-being!
