Smoking Weed Could Make Your Vagina Dry

Like to indulge in a little herbal stimulation? Welp, one expert says weed could cause dry vagina. In a recent interview with Vice, Dr. Julie Holland, author of the book no doubt on our summer read list Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, the Sleep You’re Missing, the Sex You’re Not Having and What’s Really Making You Crazy, provided some insight into the new finding.

According to Dr. Holland, the vaginal dryness side effect can be compared to dry mouth—which is drying of the mucus membranes. If a woman smokes a strain of marijuana that gives her dry mouth, it will also make her dry down there as well. What generally makes a woman dry is the pill, because she’s not ovulating. So, if a woman is on the pill and smokes weed, well, she might give the Sahara desert a run for its money.

But there could be an alternative for those who want to prevent pregnancy, smoke a little kush and still be able to enjoy sex. Say hello to the cannabis lube Foria.

Yes it’s a lube that gets your vagina higher than the Empire State Building. It comes nicely packaged in a glass spray bottle. “I haven’t tried it and don’t have any data,” says Dr. Holland on Foria. “But here’s what I will say that’s very important: I believe it’s in the base of coconut oil and I think that coconut oil is excellent for lubrication. I’ve had patients tell me, I’ve had friends tell me, it is better than any other lube they’ve tried. I think the coconut oil base may be Foria’s charm.”

Holland says dry vajayjay due to weed smoking all depends on the strain of cannabis.

“There’s the whole head versus body issue. The critical mind needs to be put on pause to really enjoy yourself and get in your body, to not worry about how long it’s taking or what you look like. There are some strains of cannabis that help you get in your body and more aware of your body, but there are some strains that make you more in your head, more critical. You really need to experiment a bit to find what works for you.”

Foria is available online at $44 (10 mL) and $88 (30mL). You’re welcome.
