Finally! Loretta Lynch Makes History

Loretta Lynch was confirmed as the new U.S. Attorney General on Thursday. Lynch struts into history as the first Black female to ever hold the position. It was a long, drawn out process (six months to be exact) but it finally ended today with a 44 Democrats, 10 Republicans and two Independents supporting her confirmation.

Minority Leader Harry M. Read (D-Nevada) made a profound observation on the Senate floor this morning saying, “I guess I was naive in thinking my Republican colleagues would treat Loretta Lynch with the dignity that she and her office deserves.” Read continues, “Perhaps my mistake was forgetting that for Republicans, this isn’t about Loretta Lynch. It’s about President Obama.”

Regardless, of all hating and blocking from the GOP, we finally have another Black woman in the White House! Bravo Attorney General Lynch! Bravo!
