Erykah Badu’s “Phone Down” Video is Her Most Strange Yet!

You probably already know Erykah Badu released her new mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone, over the Thanksgiving holiday. The lead track is “Phone Down” and Badu recently posted an interesting video to her Facebook page promoting the track.

It shows a couple fighting over what appears to be a cell phone. When we say fighting, we don’t just mean arguing, but fighting as in dragging each other across the ground. Badu’s song is playing in the background and you’ll probably be just as confused as we are.

Many in Badu’s Facebook comments were confused as well and thought the video was another negative portrayal of Black women.

Was Badu trying to use her song to bring attention to domestic violence or was she showing what happens in relationships when couples are too consumed by their phones?
