Want a R–Rated Instagram?

A lot of people will agree there’s either a lot or too much nudity on Instagram, even though the app does have a nudity policy. However, when you check the ‘Explore’ page from time to time, you can’t believe certain pictures are still up.

Clearly, with all the nudity we are afforded, people want to take off more. Just look at the recent #FreetheNipple campaign where activists brought to the forefront the fact Instagram censors female nipples but not male nipples.

If it doesn’t want to get kicked out of the App Store by Apple, Instagram has to stick to its nudity policy.

Yesterday, during a Vanity Fair panel in San Francisco, Katie Couric asked Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom if an “R-rated” version of the app would work.

“There have been discussions,” Systrom said. He thinks it can be tricky to decide and who and what is R-rated.

“We’re not in the business of hosting porn. We focus on people being able to express themselves in beautiful ways.”

There are no details on a supposed “R-rated” version of Instagram, so we’re all just going to have to comply with Instagram’s rules.
