Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival

Check out performances by Common and Mobb Deep among others. A few years ago, Jay-Z dropped by so expect huge guest appearances.


Afro-Latino Festival

July 11

Williamsburg, Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant

Admission: $15-$40

Celebrate Latino history and heritage with panel discussions, film screenings, music, dancing and art. Saturday includes a dance party at The Wick and a street fair at Restoration Plaza.


The Rise of Sneaker Culture

July 10 – October 4

Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Prospect Heights

Admission: $16 for adults

Sneaker lovers, rejoice! This latest exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum shows the history, technology and cultural impact of sneakers. It features kicks from 1930s sprinting shoes to 1985 Air Jordans and designs from Kanye West and Christian Louboutin.

Admission: $18, $20 at the door

Music lovers flock to the museum’s courtyard to take in the sun and sounds of bands, DJs and producers.


“Frida Kahlo: Art. Garden. Life”

July 11- November 1

New York Botanical Garden, Bronx River Pkway, NY 10458

Admission: Free

The exhibit allows visitors to get up close with the plants and wildlife that influenced Kahlo’s work. Twelve of her original paintings will be on display.
