Some fun facts to know about  the 15-year-old Shahidi is she’s been acting since she was three-years-old. If she looks familiar, it’s because she starred in her first film at age seven alongside Eddie Murphy in Imagine That. She maintains a 4.60 GPA and was recently honored by Ann Tisch’s Young Women’s Leadership Network. Shahidi’s big cousin is hip hop legend Nas!

The emerging beauty calls her “Black-ish” character her alter ego.

“I feel like Zoey is representative of not puberty, but the stage right after, when you’re trying to figure out who you are as a person,” said Shahidi.

“And that stage lasts forever and ever and ever! Zoey is someone who’s confident in who she is, but she doesn’t exactly know who she is at the time…and what’s so lovely about that is how human it is.”
