Ben Carson is Asleep on America’s Police!
Earlier this week, while speaking at a campaign event, the Republican presidential candidate made what is being perceived as a classless and tasteless joke aimed at police brutality.
Carson, a Detroit native, began speaking about his days growing up in the city and the mischief he and his neighborhood friends would engage in.
“Throwing rocks at cars, I really liked that,” said Carson. “Sometimes the police would come, always in unmarked cars. And they’d be chasing us across the field and they would think they trapped us. Now, that was back in the days before they would shoot you… I’m just kidding! You know they wouldn’t do that.”
He didn’t stop there, but continued on showing his support for police officers.
“I really have a tremendous amount of respect for the police because they put their lives on the line every day for us, and they are the very last people that we should be targeting,” he said.
One would think Carson, as a Black man, would show just a little bit more empathy surrounding the issue of police brutality especially considering the fact he grew up during the Civil Rights Movement, and in the D, where racial targeting at Black women and men was on 10!
We could say this is one of the worst things to come out of Carson’s mouth, but it’s still early in election season.
