214 of 234 Nigerian Girls Rescued from Boko Haram Are Pregnant
According to the United Nations, at least 214 of the 234 young Nigerian girls recently rescued from the camps of Boko Haram are pregnant.
An UN official states,
“About 214 of those already screened were discovered to be at various stages of pregnancies, some visibly pregnant and some just tested pregnant.”
The UN says they are supporting all rescued girls with medical attention.
On April 14, 2014 Boko Haram kidnapped 276 girls from a secondary school in a town of Chibok in Borno.
The terrorist group regularly abducts young girls. Reportedly, the group’s mission is to overthrow the Nigerian government. Boko Haram have laid claim to a series of fatal shootings, bombings and attacks throughout Nigeria.
A total of 15,000 people are dead at the hands of the group and about 1.5 million are displaced.
