Lady Gaga Will Play Donatella Versace On Third Season of “American Crime Story”

Lady Gaga has really been flexing her acting chops lately and it’s all thanks to Ryan Murphy. Fresh off a win at the Golden Globes for Best Actress in a Limited Series for her role in “American Horror Story: Hotel,” can currently be seen on the series’ new season, “Roanoke.”

Murphy, who is probably best known as the creator of “Glee,” is the brain’s behind FX’s “American Horror Story” and “American Crime Story.”

Fans of “American Crime Story” can expect the third season to focus on the 1997 murder of fashion designer, Gianni Versace. The fashion legend was gunned down by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, who took his own life a week later.

Gaga will play Versace’s sister, Donatella. What makes this a personal role for Gaga is she and Donatella are real-life friends. The two have walked the red carpet together and Donatella chose Gaga to star in Versace’s Spring 2014 ad campaign. Gaga also wrote a tribute song for Donatella on her ARTPOP album.

Till this day, no one knows why Cunanan targeted Versace during his three-month killing spree.

Expect “Versace/Cunanan: American Crime Story” to put the pieces together and tell a story many are probably familiar with, but don’t have much background.
