“Insecure’s” first season will include eight episodes and will definitely remind fans of Rae’s early work on her webseries, “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.”

Rae’s character embarks on a journey to figure out what she wants out of life and if she still wants to be with her boyfriend, Lawrence (played by Jay Ellis), who has become complacent.

There are the uncomfortable racial situations she faces at work as well as awkward moments we all know Rae plays so well.

Rae created “Insecure” along with Larry Wilmore, who also serves as a consultant. One of the show’s executive producers includes music video director, Melina Matsoukas.
