Kim Kardashian Says She’s Not a Feminist!

Kim Kardashian is known for her nude selfies just as much as she is for her family’s reality show. Every time Kim posts a nude photo to social media showing off her body after having two kids, she becomes a trending topic on Twitter which then follows a plethora of think pieces defending a woman’s right to be naked on the Internet.

Many who come to Kim’s defense are women who are self-proclaimed feminists and embrace the “free the nipple” movement.

However, Kim recently announced she doesn’t see herself as a feminist.

This past Friday, Kim was the keynote speaker at the BlogHer conference in Los Angeles and she spoke on everything from family, her kids and being a businesswoman.

A big takeaway from the discussion was when Kim spoke on feminism.

“Everyone always says, are you a feminist?” said Kim. “And I don’t think that I am. I don’t like labels. I do what makes me happy, and I want women to be confident. I am so supportive of women. I love nothing more than when I’m with all my friends, and I love to support women, but I’m not a ‘free the nipple-type’ of girl. If you’re not comfortable with that, don’t do it! I’m not about the labels. Just be you, and be confident in you.”

This does sound surprising considering the source, but I think we’ve all seen what happens when women in the public eye proclaim themselves to be a feminist, but are then criticized when they say or do something which people feel goes against the feminist movement.

The main goal of feminism is to push for equality for women and men and to be comfortable doing what you want. Kim pretty much has that down to a science.
