Amandla Stenberg Stars in New Stella McCartney Fragrance Campaign
Amandla Stenberg continues to carve out a name for herself as a social activist and someone young girls can look up to. She’s also getting the attention of designers and the actress is one of the new faces starring in the campaign for Stella McCartney‘s new fragrance, POP.
POP is a targeted specifically at millennials, so it was a no-brainer the The 17-year-old socially conscious beauty was selected. Joining Stenberg in the campaign which features print and video ads is Madonna‘s daughter, Lourdes “Lola” Leon, Kenya Kinski-Jones and Canadian singer, Grimes.
In the 60-second video, the ladies can be seen dancing carefree in the California desert and driving down an empty highway in a roofless pink Cadillac, which doubles as a swimming pool. The song featured in the video is Janelle Monae‘s song, “Venus Fly.”
If Stenberg and Monae weren’t enough Black Girl Magic, the director of the video is Melina Matsoukas, who is not only a talented director with Beyonce‘s “Formation” video in her long list of credits, she’s also besties with Solange and will be behind the camera on Issa Rae‘s upcoming HBO series, “Insecure.”
On McCartney’s website, she describes the video for POP, saying, “It’s about capturing and celebrating that very special and exciting time when you are finding yourself and coming into your own. It’s about freedom, and starting your life away from judgments or labels.”
