Lisa Bonet’s Ageless Beauty Secrets Revealed!

The cardinal rule in melanin beauty is “Black Don’t Crack!”

Generations of Black women the world over have aged beautifully and gracefully, leaving the mystery of their age, just that, a mystery.  As beautiful as melanin is, we know it doesn’t just preserve itself.

In the hall of fame for ageless melanin beauty Lisa Bonet definitely tops the list! The 48 year old star has maintained a face that’s as fresh and youthful as it was when she was giving us all life goals as Denise Huxtable!

How does she do it? Well first she attributes a lot of that youthful retention to her facialist Dayle Breault. Not to mention she’s got access to an arsenal of beauty and skincare products that would make your wallet cry.

Even though we don’t have Bonet’s resources she’s given us the gift of her beauty routine in a piece for the New York Times.

So read on and adjust your routines and wallets accordingly!

Skin Care

When it come to her skin, she’s all for new life, we’re talking about cell regeneration. Part of the reason she looks so good is because her skin is always new!

The Products:

Derma Peel by Rhonda Allison

Dayle Breault (Goddess of Skin) Bonafide Scrub ($74.88)

Dayle Breault (Goddess of Skin) Profound Cleanser ($64.88)

Rhonda Allison Pumpkin Cleanser ($45.00, Amazon)

Dayle Breault (Goddess of Skin) Truthful Serum ($130.00)

Le Mieux TGF-B Booster ($65.00, Amazon)

Dayle Breault (Goddess of Skin) Synergy Mist ($44.88)

The Routine:

A few nights a week she scrubs away the dead skin, alternating between two different exfoliating products.

When it comes to cleansing, she’s more focused on doing that in the morning and will switch between two cleansers.

Then it’s all about the serums, she alternates between two different ones depending on what she feels her skin needs that day, and then seals it with a face mist.

Lisa’s Beauty Wisdom:

Start caring about your skin now and don’t fall asleep with your makeup on!

“I owe a lot to Dayle for my sustained youthfulness. But I’ve always taken skin care very seriously — from when I was a kid and would go to the drugstore and buy that Apricot Scrub. I also have really sensitive skin that requires a good amount of care. I’m not one of those people who can go to sleep with their makeup on and wake up and be fine.”

When you look at her, it’s pretty clear that Lisa Bonet isn’t heavy on the makeup the way maybe Denise Huxtable was back in the 80s. Less is clearly more here!

Lisa’s Beauty Wisdom:

Put down the tweezers!

“My brows are natural. I guess I got lucky. If you overtweeze, they might not grow back. I’ve always kept them quite full. Although, as young women, we like to experiment, and I did tweeze them once. (I have a school picture for proof.) It’s amazing how brows can change your face. I remember my mother was flabbergasted when I came out of the bathroom. I would tell my daughters not to overtweeze — maybe Zoë did it once — but you’ve got to let them fly, too.”

Diet and Fitness

Bonet’s bomb frame has barely strayed from the fresh faced 20 something of the late 80s, but the body don’t come easy!

The Products:

Raw Foods

Gluten Free Breads

Coconut Oil

The Routine:

All natural, raw, and pure foods frequent her menu. Coconut oil seems to be her cooking oil of choice and she even found that getting rid of gluten helped minimize her daughter Lola’s asthma.

When it comes to keeping her body in good health, she said she’s all about dance, she takes an African dance class once a week. She also does Pilates twice a week, yoga once a week, and hits the gym twice.

Lisa’s Beauty Wisdom:

Treat your body with the highest level of care!

“I’m all about putting food in my body that nourishes me.”

” I take an African dance class that I live for. I just walked in one day, and I have been doing it pretty regularly for seven years now.”
