Rapper Troy Ave Arrested Following Shooting At Irving Plaza
Wednesday night’s shooting during a concert at Irving Plaza, where rapper T.I. was headlining, left one person dead and three wounded. On Thursday evening, news broke Brooklyn rapper, Troy Ave, who was also scheduled to be performing, was arrested in connection with the shooting.
The NYPD released video of the 33-year-old Brownsville native opening fire backstage. He’s being charged with reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possessions and could face a murder charge depending on the results of the ballistics report. During melee, he accidentally shot himself and was taken to NYU Langone Medical Center.

The shooting left one of Troy Ave’s associates, Ronald McPhatter, who was the rapper’s bodyguard, dead. The incident began on the second floor greenroom of Irving Plaza, and as rapper Maino, who was also on the bill to perform, was exiting the stage, the shooting began.
Reports are saying Troy Ave was aiming for Maino, but Maino disputes those claims, saying he and the rapper have always had a good working relationship.
T.I. also expressed his condolences to the victim’s of the shooting on Instagram.
