All-White Australia Fashion Show Closed With “Formation” and Folks Are Fed Up

It’s no secret the fashion industry has a long way to go when it comes to diversity and adding more Black models on the runways. This week is Fashion Week in Australia, and on Monday, Misha Collection showed their clothes using all-white models which included Bella Hadid.

What really added salt to an open wound was during the finale, the models walked to Beyonce‘s “Formation,” which is a song (and video) celebrating Black women and Black culture.

What also upped the ante was Hadid’s agency, IMG Models, posting an Instagram video of the finale with “Formation” playing.

Because social media is social media, the comments section didn’t spare any feelings.

“How you gonna use black songs but not black people smh,” wrote one commenter.

Another wrote, “Love their stuff but where is the variation in skin colors for their models.”

Refinery29 reached out to Misha Collection for comment and have not heard back.
