2016 BET Awards Nominations See Beyonce, Drake and Rihanna As Frontrunners!

Yesterday, the nominations for the 2016 BET Awards were announced and Beyonce, Drake and Rihanna are leading the pack.

Beyonce and Rihanna each have five nominations and go up against each other in the categories Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration and Video of the Year. Drake is the most nominated artist with nine which includes Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration and Video of the Year.

Speaking of Best Male Hip Hop Artist, the other nominees include Fetty Wap, Future, J. Cole, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar.

In the category of Best Female Hip Hop Artist, which for the past few years has become the indisputable Nicki Minaj award, there may be some actual competition this year with nominees including Minaj, Dej Loaf, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott and Remy Ma.

To announce the nominees for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration and Best Male Hip Hop Artist, BET worked with choreographer Will “WilldaBEAST” Adams on a dance video.

“These nominees represent depth and diversity in achievement over the past year and we look forward to recognizing them next month,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Programming.

“This show will be innovative and special; in addition to celebrating the best in entertainment, we’ll also spend time throughout the show remembering Prince as only BET can. You can count on memorable performances and moments in honor of a true legend.”

Catch the 2016 BET Awards when they air live June 26 from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 PM ET.
