Rachel Dolezal Still Doesn’t Understand the Question
The former NAACP chapter president spoke to the “Today Show” on Tuesday and it turns out she’s releasing a book about, surprise, racial identity! As of right now the book still has no title, just like Rachel still has no melanin.
Along with her book Dolezal discusses her life in the past year since she was outed as a White woman pretending to be Black.
She’s elated with the birth of her son Langston Attackus who she called “perfect and precious in every way”, though still no word on his melanin levels either. Dolezal admitted that getting life back to a normal point was difficult.
“People take pictures, it’s hard to go to the grocery store… that part is hard… but you just put on your sunglasses and try to go about your life and not sweat it too much.”
But what’s possibly the greatest or craziest part of this interview is that a year later Rachel Dolezal still does not understand the question!
Remember the last time she was asked if she was in fact Black….
Well when NBC host Savannah Guthrie attempted to ask Dolezal if she was ever going to recant her claims to Blackness she responded, “I don’t know what you’re referring to with that but definitely I don’t have any regrets about how I identify. I’m still me and nothing about that has changed.”
Even though Dolezal can now definitevley admit that she was born White but identifies as Black, it doesn’t seem to really matter because in her new book she plans to question if race really even exists at all. She plans to discuss “lives being caught between race or culture or ethnicity and this larger issue of if you don’t fit into one box.”
On top of that Dolezal says her own situation with how the world sees her “challenged people to think about identity… is there one human race? Why do we want to go back to that world where we have separate races?”
While Rachel Dolezal has managed to master the art of the twist out (or has a damn good set of perm rods), she still seems pretty lost on the subject of racial identity.
We know Black people are the bomb, but sorry girl you still can’t sit with us.
