Harriet Tubman Will be the New Face of the $20 Bill!

It’s a historic day for women and American currency. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew will announce today Harriet Tubman will be the new face on the $20 bill, replacing Andrew Jackson.

As of right now, Alexander Hamilton will stay on the $10 after Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is the star of the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton,” spoke with Lew about keeping Hamilton on the currency last month. Last year, the non profit organization, Women on 20s, started a movement to replace Jackson on the $20.

The original plan was Hamilton would be replaced by a woman on the $10, but he’s clearly remaining on the front and center of the bill for now.

We can expect upcoming changes to the $5 bill which will show civil rights leaders.
