Feel Good Moment: 107-Year-Old Virginia McLaurin Gets Down With the Harlem Globetrotters
Age ain’t nothing but a number and Virginia McLaurin is living proof of that.
The 107-year-old stole our hearts when she visited the White House and met Barack and Michelle Obama. The sweet little old lady was so excited to see a Black president that she just started to dance. Her happiness was so infectious that the President and first lady decided to bust a move with her and it damn near made our hearts explode!
Well Ms. McLaurin is back at it again and this time it’s with the legendary Harlem Globetrotters!
McLaurin volunteers at the Roots Charter School in Washington D.C. and as a special treat on Tuesday, some of the Harlem Globetrotters came by.
Moose Weekes and Zeus McLaurin showed McLaurin some of their signature moves, but not to be outdone McLaurin threw in some moves of her own! They even showed her how to spin a basketball on her finger.
The Globetrotters gifted McLaurin with a jersey with the number 107 on it and donated 107 tickets to their next show. They spoke to the students at the school about the positive attributes McLaurin has and why they support her beliefs that you need to “keep moving, stay active, be enthusiastic, have a positive attitude, and celebrate Black history.”
