Black Model Rocks Cornrows on the Cover of ‘Vogue Espana’

In the mainstream fashion and beauty worlds, cornrows, or “boxer braids” as some like to call them, is seemingly a new hair trend.

We all know that’s not true, which is why we appreciate the March cover of Vogue Espana featuring a Black model, Aya Jones, who is Ivorian-British, rocking cornrows. We also love how “Africa” is the biggest word on the cover and the cover line is “Black is Beautiful.” The day American Vogue does something like this, the fashion industry might spontaneously combust.

What can also be appreciated from this cover is the magazine’s stylist, Karim Belghiran, had women from Botswana help cornrow Jones’ hair.

It looks like these American magazines need to catch up when it comes to culture and diversity.
