The film which is adapted from the Margot Lee Shetterly book, “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race,” follows the story of three Black NASA scientists who were the brain power behind launching John Glenn into space, making him the first man to orbit the earth in 1962.

Dorothy Vaughn was a math teacher in Virginia, at R.R. Morton High School before working for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics.

She was appointed to lead an all Black, all woman, team of mathematicians known as the West Area Computers in 1949.

Two of the three biggest characters in this film have already been cast, so now we’re just waiting to find out who will be playing Mary Jackson!

Any guesses on the next leading lady?
