Obama Just Saved Planned Parenthood!

While he’s still in office, President Obama continues to make history. Today, the President vetoed a bill that would have repealed the Affordable Care Act as well as cut federal funding from Planned Parenthood.

As you know, Republicans have been trying to get rid of the healthcare law commonly known as “Obamacare,” since it went into action in 2010.

According to CNN, this marks the first time Republicans were able to get such a bill to the White House.

President Obama defended the Affordable Care Act in a message to Congress saying it has “made health care coverage more affordable, more attainable and more patient-centered. And it is working.”

Indeed it is, especially among millennials who are either unemployed, underemployed or just don’t have health insurance provided at their jobs.

President Obama wrote, “Because of the harm this bill would cause to the health and financial security of millions of Americans, it has earned my veto.”

He continued,”Rather than re-fighting old political battles by once again voting to repeal basic protections that provide security for the middle class, members of Congress should be working together to grow the economy, strengthen middle-class families, and create new jobs.”

Republicans are also calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood due to a series of tapes causing controversy about the organization’s methods of fetal donation and procurement.

House Speaker Paul Ryan sees the bill as a temporary misstep on the path to repealing the healthcare act.

“We have now shown that there is a clear path to repealing Obamacare without 60 votes in the Senate,” said Ryan.

“So, next year, if we’re sending this bill to a Republican president, it will get signed into law. Obamacare will be gone. … It’s just a matter of time.”

With this information in mind, you better get out and vote in 2016!
