Events will be taking place across the country, and here’s where you can give your time if you live in New York City, Atlanta and Washington, D.C.

Volunteer with the Stewardship Team at Idlewild Park on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to protect and maintain the wetlands of Idlewild Park by removing floating debris. Dress in sturdy boots, shoes, warm layers, long pants and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.

Montgomery County’s Volunteer Center is organizing indoor volunteer projects along with a canned food drive for Manna Food Center at several locations around the County. Structured service activities will be conducted at the Universities at Shady Grove from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Silver Spring Civic Building from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel from 1 to 3 p.m.
