Queen Latifah Will Star In Lee Daniel’s Latest TV Series!
If you couldn’t get enough of Queen Latifah in ‘The Wiz Live’ then you’ll be glad to know she’ll be singing on your TV screen again soon!
Latifah partnered with Lee Daniels in his new unnamed series about the Atlanta music scene.
Considering Daniels has been doing a bang up job with his other music industry series “Empire“, we have to admit we’re pretty excited to see how this partnership with Latifah will turn out!
The new series slated to follow a young girl group birthed out if the ATL as they struggle to climb their way to the top. Lee’s new project welcomes three fresh faces, Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grady.
Each new actress brings a different type of character to the screen. Jude Demorest will play Star, a foster child with big dreams, Brittany O’Grady is her sister Simone, and Ryan Destiny will be playing Alexandra, a rich spoiled brat who wants to “make real, authentic music.”
According to Deadline:
Created, co-written and directed by Daniels, the pilot follows three young women (Demorest, Destiny, O’Grady), who form a girl group with hopes of making it big in the music industry, and the choices with which they’re faced along the way. Queen Latifah anchors the cast as Carlotta, the owner of an Atlanta beauty salon, with an amazing voice, who will become a surrogate mother to the three girls – even though she doesn’t approve of their musical dreams.
This new series sounds like it’ll be worth the watch and in the mean time we’ll keep on waiting to see what Daniels does with the new “Empire” spin-off that focuses on Cookie. Rumor has it that he recently cast, transgender model, Amiyah Scott, in the show!
