Chris Brown Didn’t Show Up to Event Because Gay Men Were There, According to Report
According to The Georgia Voice, Chris Brown is not down to perform or make appearances for gay men.
This past weekend was Atlanta Black Gay Pride Weekend and supposedly Brown was scheduled to make an appearance at one of the weekend events. Reports claim he backed out due to the small presence of gay men.
Traxx Girls, a lesbian-owned production company threw “The Big Bang” party Saturday night at The Georgia Freight Depot Club. A flyer for the party posted on the Atlanta Pride Weekend website featured a picture of Brown, but did not list him as a performer, instead they billed a “super surprise guest”.
According to the founder of Traxx Girls, Melissa Scott, Brown was not scheduled to perform, he was only intended to introduce Teyana Taylor, since he was already in town for his own “One Hell of a Nite Tour”.
The trouble began when by 2 a.m., Brown still hadn’t arrived at the event and Scott was going back and forth via text with Brown’s team about the image used on the promotional flyer, Scott told Georgia Voice.
“I was being told to take his (Brown’s) image down because he looks a little feminine in that image, an image that he took. As a promoter I should be focused on my crowd. I had to send text messages of pictures of my crowd to say, there’s nothing but girls in here man.”
Chris Brown never showed but guess who came to the rescue? Fetty Wap!
“We called Fetty Wap who is the hottest artist in the country right now and he was five minutes away (from the venue) and asked him if he could come. He said ‘hell yeah!’ I said it’s a gay party. It’s tons of people here. He said he didn’t care and was on his way.”
On Sunday afternoon Brown responded via twitter, explaining that he knew nothing about the performance.
I wasn’t aware or informed of a show I supposedly cancelled. I have nothing but love and respect for the LGBT COMMUNITY.

The show was never confirmed by any of my people. So I apologize if the fans wanted me there. — Chris Brown (@chrisbrown) September 7, 2015
I honestly wasn’t booked for the show. Hopefully in the future we can do it right. Much love LGBT — Chris Brown (@chrisbrown) September 7, 2015
Reports claim Brown did not show because he found out about the few gay men present, but something just doesn’t add up.
How did Brown know about the men at the venue and at what point did he say “nah” because of their presence? No reports confirm text messages that actually state that as being his reason.
Brown has had his few run ins with bigotry and possibly homophobia in situations with Frank Ocean and male fans, but is it possible Brown really just didn’t know he was scheduled and somehow his people messed up?
