New Law Will Bring Baby Changing Tables to Male Restrooms!

It’s no secret baby changing tables are always equipped in women’s public restrooms almost everywhere you go, but strides are now being taken to bring baby changing tables to male restrooms, at least the ones in public buildings.

This past Friday, President Obama signed the Babies Act, which is a new law requiring baby changing tables to be available in women’s and men’s restrooms.

The Babies Act is worded as, “The new bill requires male and female restrooms in a public building to be equipped with baby changing facilities that the General Services Administration determines are physically safe, sanitary, and appropriate.”

This law only affects public buildings, so don’t expect baby changing tables in the men’s restrooms at the mall, movie theater or any restaurant.

The Babies Act was the brainchild of Rhode Island Representative David Cicilline, who introduced the bill in April.

Cicilline wrote of the bill on his website, ”

“Government needs to do more to ensure that public buildings are family-friendly. No mom or dad should ever have to worry about finding a safe, sanitary place to change their baby ― least of all in a federal building that’s paid for by taxpayers.”

With this new law, it’s possible it could expand baby changing tables in all men’s restrooms.
