Here Are the Nominations For This Year’s Soul Train Awards!

The Soul Train Awards have become another awards show we can count on to showcase Black music and artists, specifically those in R&B.

Today, nominations were announced with Drake and Beyonce leading the pack with 12 and 8 nominations respectively.

One category to keep your eye on is Best New Artist which might be difficult to choose from with nominees such as Anderson.Paak, Andra Day, Bryson Tiller, Chance the Rapper, Ro James and Torey Lanez.

Aside from the regular awards that will be given out, Brandy, who has over 20 years in the music game, will be honored with the Lady of Soul Award. With 40 million albums under her belt, a Grammy, an American Music Award, seven Billboard Music Awards and several television and film awards, it’s only right she’s paid tribute.

Receiving the Legend Award will be producer/singer/songwriter, Teddy Riley, the creator of New Jack Swing. Riley has been a part two successful R&B groups, Blackstreet and Guy, and his New Jack Swing sound changed R&B and hip hop music forever.

Erykah Badu will return as host and the show will be taped on November 6 in Las Vegas with a television air date on November 27 on BET and Centric at 8 PM.
