Kim Kardashian Takes Out Full-Page Ad in New York Times On the Armenian Genocide

Kim Kardashian has always let it be known she’s Armenian and last year took a trip to Armenia for the first time.

In Saturday’s edition of The New York Times, the reality star in partnership with the Armenian Education Foundation, took out a full-page ad criticizing those who continue to deny the Armenian genocide which took place in April 1915 by the Turkish government. More than a million Armenian people lost their lives.

Kim’s ad comes six months after The Wall Street Journal published an ad from Fact Check Armenia which showed support of the denial of the Armenian genocide.

She wrote in the ad, “My family and I are no strangers to BS in the press. We’ve learned to brush it off. Lies make good headlines, good headlines make great covers, great covers sell magazines. But when I heard about this full-page ad that ran in the Wall Street Journal denying the Armenian genocide, I couldn’t just brush it off.”

Even till this day, Turkey denies the Armenian genocide ever took place and in 2015, Kim wanted President Obama to use the “term” genocide when acknowledging the event’s 100th anniversary, which he didn’t do.

“Many historians believe that if Turkey had been held responsible for the Armenian genocide, and reprimanded for what they did, the Holocaust may not have happened,” wrote Kim.

“We must talk about it until it is recognized by our government because when we deny our past, we endanger our future.”
