Alicia Keys Stayed True to Her No Makeup Movement At Last Night’s VMAs!

If you were not aware before, Alicia Keys is on a mission to embrace her natural beauty and is opting not to wear makeup. During her appearance at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, the singer walked the red carpet without an ounce of makeup on her face.

There were no filled-in brows, mascara or concealer. Only Keys in her Just Cavalli bohemian gown.

You can also catch Keys looking rocking the same fresh-faced look as judge on this season’s “The Voice.”

This past May, Keys wrote an essay for Lena Dunham‘s Lenny Letter expressing her dislike of society pressuring women to be perfect. She wants to accept her raw self after years of feeling like she needed to wear makeup.

Keys wrote, “Cause I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”

Because social media is social media, Keys’ decision has sparked debate and conversation with some women feeling like they’re being called out for liking and wanting to wear makeup.

Keys addressed people’s thoughts saying, “Y’all, me choosing to be makeup free doesn’t mean I’m anti-makeup. Do you!”
