Gabby Douglas Joins Ava DuVernay and Misty Copeland With Her Own Barbie Doll

Gaby Douglas is going to have us doing backflips all week! The olympic gold medalist achieved the honor of making the U.S. gymnastcs team and is on the road to Rio this summer, but that’s not her only honor.

Mattel has added Douglas to their “Shero” colection, creating a Barbei doll in her likeness, just in time for the summer olympics. The company unvelied the latest Barbie doll on Monday to honor Douglas’s history making wins. In 2012 she became the first woman of color to win the individual all-around gymnastics competition.

Douglas told PEOPLE that she hopes that young girls will embrace her most important lesson, “be yourself and really embrace your inner beauty and your true talent. Beleive in yourself. Gabby’s new doll will join the ranks of women like Ava DuVernay, Zenday, Misty Copeland, Eva Chen, and Trisha Yearwood, who have all had dolls created for the “Shero” line. The line is designed to focus on female heroes who break boundaries and inspire young women everywhere.

We can’t wait to see what Gabby will bring to Rio this summer, but no doubt she’s goin to continue sprinkling Black Girl Magic everywhere!
