Letoya Luckett Will Star As Dionne Warwick in Upcoming Biopic

There’s some good news for singer and actress, Letoya Luckett! It was announced this morning at the Cannes Film Festival, the former Destiny’s Child member would be starring as legendary singer, Dionne Warwick, in an upcoming biopic.

The film is currently titled, Dionne, and it will follow the early years of the singer’s career from 1962-1968, where she recorded her biggest hits such as “Alfie” and “Say A Little Prayer.”

Warwick, who is 75, is happy she will be portrayed by Luckett.

“She is perfect and she has exactly the right look,” she said at the Cannes Film Festival. “She will bring out what is needed for this part.”

Luckett will also contribute to the film’s soundtrack by recording Warwick’s songs.

The cast of the movie will be bringing more star power with Lady Gaga playing, Cilla Black, who Warwick calls her “musical nemesis” because she “stole” her music.

Danny Glover will play Warwick’s father, Mansel Warwick, and Olympia Dukakis will play German singer and actress, Marlene Dietrich, who was Warwick’s mentor.

Shooting of the film is scheduled to begin later this year and Mario Van Peebles is in talks to direct.
