Melissa Harris-Perry Will be Sprinkling Black Girl Magic all Over Elle Magazine

Melissa Harris-Perry’s got a new home and Nerdland has been reincarnated with a more feminine centric spin!

On Monday announced Harris-Perry would be joining the team as an editor-at-large.

Ever since MHP’s ugly breakup with MSNBC  her fans have been faithfully supporting her while we wait to see where she lands next. Her move to Elle will be a little change of pace, but one we’re excited to see.

According to editorial director Leah Chernikoff, MHP’s role will “focus on the intersection of race, gender, politics, and yes, even fashion, telling the often-overlooked stories of women and girls of color right here on”

The brand has had a few misses with its approach to women of color and culture mixed in with some successes, so we know MHP is going to bring some much needed intellectual prowess to the mix.

MHP seems enthusiastic about her new role and what she’ll be bringing to the table.

“Joining is an opportunity to combine my expertise as a scholar, my commitments as a public intellectual, and my interests as a woman,” said she said in a statement. “Politics, economics, and inequality will be important to the stories we tell, but so too will culture, community, family, and even fashion. I am thrilled to tell my loyal television audience where they can find me and to introduce myself to brand new audiences, all while telling the stories of extraordinary women and girls.”

Melissa Harris-Perry for the win!
