Chris Rock Teases Oscar Hosting Duties By Promising a #Blackout

If you only tune into the Academy Awards for one reason on Sunday, it will be to see what host, Chris Rock, is going to say.

It’s a no-brainer the comedian is going to address this year’s diversity controversy and #OscarsSoWhite hashtag, but we all know he’ll do it in a way only he can.

Early this morning, Rock sent out a tweet teasing his hosting duties, writing, “See you Sunday… #blackout #oscars.”

In the week’s following the Oscar nominations, there were calls from Black celebrities for Rock to step down as host, but he clearly is doing no such thing. We wouldn’t be surprised if some of Black Hollywood’s biggest stars appear alongside Rock for his opening skit and monologue.

Academy Awards producer, Reginald Hudlin, told “Entertainment Tonight” the Academy is expecting rock to address the boycott and diversity issue.

“They know that’s what we need. They know that’s what the public wants, and we deliver what the people want.”
