Meet Your Newest Netflix Addiction, Hip Hop Series ‘The Get Down’!

There’s a new Neflix series coming our way which we’ll most likely be binge-watching.

The first trailer for “The Get Down,” which is a Baz Luhrmann music-driven 1970s-set drama series was just released. It follows a group of South Bronx teenagers in New York City at a time where it’s facing bankruptcy, but is creating styles of music called hip-hop, punk and disco.

The cast is full of newcomers or up-and-comers and they include Justice Smith (playing “Ezekiel”), Shameik Moore (as “Shaolin Fantastic”), Skylan Brooks (as “Ra Ra”), Tremaine Brown, Jr. (as “Boo Boo”), Herizen Guardiola (“Mylene Cruz”), Yahya Abdul-Mateen (“Cadillac”), Mamoudou Athie (“Grandmaster Flash“), Jimmy Smits (“Francisco Cruz” aka “Papa Fuerte”) and Jaden Smith (Marcus “Dizzee” Kipling).

This is something hip-hop lovers or music historians in general are going to love.
