Where in the World Are People Buying the Most Sex Toys?

Sex toys are no longer taboo, and are pretty much a staple in many women’s sex lives.

In 2011, the sex toy industry reportedly raked in $15 billion, with the American market being worth $1.3 billion, so obviously people are buying them.

JimmyJane is a longtime leader in the industry and has been at the forefront of evolving design, sales and innovation. Since we know Americans are obsessed with sex toys, Fusion went a step further and researched which states are buying the most battery love!

The brand provided the most information and because their products are the most popular, it’s a decent indicator. Also keep in mind, JimmyJane sex toys are on the pricier end. The information is based from online sales through the company’s website, and span from January 1, 2015 and September 15, 2015.

The top 10 states (in order from most to least) are California, New York, Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington, Virginia and Colorado.

An interesting fact about Texas is there was a law which made owning “obscene devices” otherwise known as any device “designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs” illegal. The law was changed in 2003 making it illegal to own more than six “obscene devices.” It was finally overturned in 2008.

Even the most conservative find it hard to resist a sex toy!
