People are Pissed J.K. Rowling’s New ‘Harry Potter’ Play Stars a Black Woman!

Anytime a Black person is cast as a character audiences believe is White, there is going to be some criticism. This is exactly what author J.K. Rowling is facing since the cast for her new play ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” was announced and the actress playing Hermione is Noma Dumezweni, a Black woman.

Even though the choice in casting received a lot of support, there were some fans who thought it wasn’t logical to have a Black Hermione, but Rowling is not here for it.

On Twitter, a fan asked Rowling her opinion on a Black Hermione.

Rowling replied saying, “Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione.”

It should also be noted in the fan art Rowling retweeted, Hermione is Black.

Some people will just never be satisfied. Best wishes to Dumezweni!
