Find Out What It’s Like to be a Man with Virtual Reality!
Ever genuinely wanted to know what it was like to be a man?
Well now thanks to BeAnother Lab you may be one step closer to actually knowing. The organization created a virtual reality headset that allows people wearing them to swap genders in an effort to help people better understand gender identity.
When people wear the headset in pairs, each person is able to see the world from the point of view of the other person, preferably someone with a different gender identity.
The Creators Project explains when people in the experiment synchronize their movements, they see the other persons body as if it were their own.
The headsets came on the scene about two years ago at Les Arcs European Film Festival but creators over at MIT are looking to expand on the technology in an effort to further research on gender identity, body perception, and rehabilitation.
This video gives an idea of what people wearing the headset experience and just how the technology works. Check it out!
