Lauryn Hill Might Release a New Album, Finally!

A new album from Lauryn Hill has become one of those musical myths, where you’ll believe it when you see it. According to Phil Nicolo, Hill’s current producer, he told The Fader, Hill is working on the follow-up to her classic 1998 solo debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Nicolo is a founder of Ruffhouse, the original label of the Fugees, and he told the publication Hill began touring five years ago to “exercise her artistic muscle” and finance recording plans. He says Hill has built up enough material to release a new album, which will be reminiscent of Miseducation. Nicolo describes the music as deeply personal and Hill is drawing “from all her inputs.” He concludes saying, “I can say this: I know creating makes her very happy.”

The most recent new music we’ve gotten from Hill was covers of Nina Simone tracks for the Netflix documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone?, which was released in July. We also can’t forget her riveting performance of “Feeling Good” on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon”.

We’ve been starving for 17 years, L-Boogie!
