Lupita Will Twirl in New Off-Broadway Play!
Lupita Nyong’o‘s next project is lined up and it’s an off-Broadway play coming this fall at New York’s Public Theater!
“Eclipsed” is set in 2003 toward the end of the Liberian civil war and is about a group of women held captive by rebels fighting the government.
The play is written by actress Danai Gurira, most known for her role as Michonne in the hit TV series, “The Walking Dead”!
The Public Theater’s artistic director Oskar Eustis said in a statement the play is a “feminist reading” and “both heart-breaking and profoundly life-affirming” when detailing the war in the African country.
“Eclipsed” will be directed by Liesl Tommy, who also premiered the play back in 2009 in Washington, D.C.
So far, only Nyong’o has been announced as a cast member. The play will begin previews at the Public Theater on September 29 through November 8. Opening night will be October 14.
We know Nyong’o will be amazing in this role!
