HBO’s ‘The Girls’ Coming to Harlem?

Since “The Girls” premiered on HBO in 2012, viewers of the series have longed for diversity. Welp. It looks like viewers will finally have diversity in the form of borough diversity in the place of real racial-ethnic diversity.

Reports confirm the show’s fifth season is slated to begin filming scenes in an apartment building in Harlem at 4700 Broadway next week. Production signs are posted in the area and the show will be shot in the courtyard, lobby and some apartments.

There’s no comment on if Hannah and her cronies will be taking the A train to Harlem/Inwood in an episode or if it would simply be shot as a different part of the city.

“We certainly look forward to going up there,” said a show staffer. “It’s a lovely neighborhood.” Is it now?

A few real residents in the area have mixed reaction to “The Girls'” hike uptown.

“Love the show and love it when they film TV shows and movies in our neighborhood,” wrote Rim Chon.

“I hope it’s just a generic NYC location they were depicting, and not a scene taking place in Inwood during the show,” wrote John Beekman. “I liked this place better when no one knew where it was.”

Oh really Mr. Beekman, would you happen to mean before it was gentrified?

Look for a spanking new season of “The Girls” sometime in early 2016.
