I’m a self-proclaimed spa junkie. When I travel, I never check out of my hotel without taking in the resident’s spa facilities. Outdoor treatments in the Caribbean, bodywraps for a snatched summer body, and mud paths for irritable back acne, the spa is where we all unwind and pretend to ignore our mobile devices. But in the city of New York, where the sharks swim and the jungle is concrete, spas become a near prerequisite so you won’t snap at kids on the subway selling M&Ms and Welch’s Fruit Snacks.

So if you’re in New York soon and you want to spa right, try my three faves. I promise you won’t regret it!

1. CORNELIA SPA AT THE SURREY

The Cornelia Spa is an Upper East Side getaway that I never want to leave. The Cornelia is hands-down one of NYC’s most luxe spas. On my birthday recently, I stayed there for six hours. No seriously. I recommend the “A Night On The Town” package. I have it before all of my big events, it includes a facial, full body massage, eyebrow wax and polish change. Love!

2. AIRE ANCIENT BATHS

In downtown New York’s posh TriBeCa, Aire Ancient Baths is a Greece-inspired bath experience. When I was an editor at Ebony, I was invited to sample a range of treatments when Aire first opened, and I’ve been addicted ever since. Aire is an ideal spot for your girls and more preferred for you and the boo. Couples flock there, so if you’re alone there like I often am, try not to roll your eyes too hard at the Euro couple getting it on in the warm pool.

3. BLISS SPA 57

We all love Bliss product. Can’t get enough of the Fabulous Rubberizing Mask. The Bliss Spa at 12 57th Street is an affordable option for city girls on the go. Bliss Spa is also an ideal go-to for ladies who have never been to a spa before. I highly recommend the Hot Salt Scrub which features sinus-clearing rosemary, and eucalyptus oil sea salt scrub and finishes with a Vichy shower—which every girl should experience. Super perfect for a cold weather warm up.
